Solid Timber is, as you already know the epitome of flooring and has been around for ages. It is usually made of a hardwood species, such as oak, maple, or walnut.
In order to retain a beautiful hardwood floor finish, you need to take care of the timber. If you let your floors fall into disrepair, it can be difficult to get them back to their former glory. Preventative maintenance like floor sanding and polishing, ensures that your new floor is protected.
The smell of a newly sanded timber floor is as rewarding as eating an ice cream on a hot summer’s day (well, that’s our personal opinion). That said, timber floors can be sanded multiple times as it becomes dated or faded over time.
Sanding, being the first step of the process, thereafter the choice is yours on what kind of coating to add!
You can choose between Water-base and Oil-base Polyurethane, both of which has different finishes:
Water-base– Matte, Satin and Gloss
Oil-base– Satin and Gloss
The timber floor coating is designed to wear instead of the timber. It is very important that the timber is finished properly. This will give you a working surface for your timber floor and getting the correct finish can greatly improve your floor and reduce the costs of caring for a floor substantially.
